Often bitcoin is advertised as so much cheaper then wire transfers, but not that long ago in 2021 it was about the same cost to make a wire transfer as bitcoin transaction. Even with the lightning network transaction still need to be settled on chain at some point. It seems like the fees are really a barrier for smaller holders.
