Jennifer Aniston admitted that she was shocked and furious after seeing Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s photos at the beach with their adopted son Maddox shortly after their split.
Pitt and Aniston parted ways in 2005, but their relationship remains interesting to their fans. In fact, now that both are single, many are hoping that they will rekindle their romance.
The exes sent their fans into a frenzy when they were spotted having a sweet moment at the 2020 Screen Actors Guild Awards in January. It was the first time they were photographed together in years and it sparked speculations that they were back together.
The two denied the rumors. So, what happened way back after their split and before their divorce?
Aniston and Pitt announced their split
Pitt and Aniston announced their split in January 2005. The then-couple released a joint statement to let their fans aware of their relationship status at the time.
“We would like to announce that after seven years together we have decided to formally separate. For those who follow these sorts of things, we would like to explain that our separation is not the result of any of the speculation reported by the tabloid media. This decision is the result of much thoughtful consideration,” the former pair said.
Pitt and Aniston added that they remained committed and caring friends with great love and admiration for each other. They also asked the public’s kindness and sensitivity.
Aniston and Pitt almost reconciled after announcing split
However, they still spent time together. They kept their wedding rings on and were even seen getting cozy at L’Orangerie restaurant in Los Angeles weeks after confirming their split.
During Aniston’s 37th birthday, the pair were seen walking hand-in-hand. Pitt’s grandmother Betty Russell was convinced that the two would find their way back to each other.
“They are both precious and have too much love to throw it all away. They just need to spend a little time apart before they realize how much they miss each other. I’m praying for it,” Russell said.
Unfortunately, something went wrong which prompted Aniston to file for divorce in April.
Aniston furious over Pitt and Jolie’s beach photos
On April 29, 2005, Pitt and Jolie were photographed playing with Maddox on the beach in Kenya. Aniston didn’t hide her emotions when asked about the pictures.
“The world was shocked, and I was shocked,” Aniston told Vanity Fair.
“I can’t say it was one of the highlights of my year. Who would deal with that and say, ‘Isn’t that sweet! That looks like fun!’? But shit happens. You joke and say, ‘What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger,’” she added.
Pitt and Aniston’s divorce was finalized in October 2005. Pitt and Jolie eventually publicized their romance and got married in 2014. However, they announced their split in 2016, and their divorce was finalized in 2019.
