Journey, from game publisher Annapurna Interactive, will officially make its debut on Steam on June 11.
Right now, the independent adventure game is only exclusive to the Epic Games Store on PC, but that should change in less than a couple of months.

Journey’s long journey to Steam
For those not familiar with the indie game, Journey was first released on the PlayStation 3 more than eight years ago.
Developed by thatgamecompany, the two-hour adventure title became a modest hit with critics and casual gamers alike, which eventually led to its re-release on PlayStation 4 three years later.
Then in June of last year, it was eventually ported to the PC, courtesy of the Epic Games Store. A couple of months later, it landed on iOS mobile devices, pretty much to everyone’s surprise:
Like Hades and Metro Exodus, Journey will soon join a growing club of games that previously were exclusive on the Epic Games Store, but went on to land on Steam a year after their release date.
Journey’s easy appeal
Journey’s premise is pretty simple and straightforward – users play a hooded character heading for an imposing mountain towering above the distant horizon.
But as its title suggests, what’s cool about the game is not so much the final destination, but the journey to get there.
Players have to make their way through various game environments and unexpected terrain. In some cases, they will stumble upon another player navigating through the same landscape.
They can even choose to partner up with another player in order to figure out the puzzles, or join forces in exploring the immediate surroundings.
Of course, it doesn’t hurt that Journey’s environments are a sight to behold. Majestic sand dunes provide a David Lean epic feel to the proceedings, while ruins exude mystery and even danger.
The grand visuals are also complemented by a score that is purposely cinematic. The game’s score has even inspired an interactive symphony tour.

In addition to the arrival of Journey, gamers on Steam should have plenty to look forward to this year.
Rare Games has already announced that its Sea of Thieves will be coming soon to the platform, with crossplay available.
Just a few days ago, TaleWorlds Entertainment’s Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord had launched on Steam, logging more than 165,000 players within the first 24 hours.
Steam is widely considered the biggest online PC gaming platform in the world, and with basically everybody staying home, it continues to draw record numbers. Just last month, it broke its all-time record number of active players, reaching over 20.3 million users.
